City Of Sails - View over the Westhaven Marina.
italy car [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Auckland is popularly known as the "City of Sails" because the harbour is often dotted with hundreds of yachts and has more per capita than any other city in the world. Viaduct Basin hosted two America's Cup challenges, and its cafes, restaurants, and clubs add to Auckland's vibrant nightlife.
High Street, Queen Street, Ponsonby Road, and Karangahape Road are also very popular with urban socialites. Newmarket and Parnell are upmarket shopping centres. Otara's and Avondale's famous fleamarkets and Victoria Park Market are a colourful alternative shopping experience. There are major shopping malls at Sylvia Park, Botany Town Centre, Albany and St Lukes.
The Auckland Town Hall and Aotea Centre host conferences and cultural events such as theatre, kapa haka, and opera. Many national treasures are displayed at the Auckland Art Gallery, such as the work of Colin McCahon.
Other significant cultural artefacts reside at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, the National Maritime Museum, and the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT). Exotic creatures can be observed at the Auckland Zoo and Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World. Movies and rock concerts (notably, the "Big Day Out") are also well patronised.

Discussion Universities register for virtual future
SAN FRANCISCO--If you want to know what higher education will look like in a few years, you might ask Charles Reed, chancellor of the largest four-year university system in the United States.
As head of the California State University system--with 23 campuses, 46,000 employees and more than 400,000 students--Reed says he's worried about classroom space in the future because of, among other reasons, expanding enrollment.
Consequently, Reed said he envisions students becoming more like telecommuters. They might meet with faculty and peers one day a week on campus, and then use simulations, virtual worlds and downloaded information the rest of the week to complete coursework.
"It's not an either-or thing. We need the 'high touch,' but we need the high tech at the same time," Reed said Tuesday at Sun Microsystem's Worldwide Education and Research Conference here.
The three-day conference kicked off Tuesday to a packed hotel ballroom of roughly 400 attendees hailing from universities around the world. Sun devoted a large part of the day to selling educators on its open-source technology for classroom computing. Sun Chairman Scott McNealy himself promoted a range of Sun efforts, including Project Blackbox, which creates data centers packaged in stackable shipping containers, and Curriki.org, which focuses on creating free curriculum in the mold of Wikipedia.
"Technology has to play a huge role in education. (It's) changed commerce...publishing...banking. It's got to change education big time," McNealy said during a keynote speech.

Virtual worlds are already beginning to change higher education, according to several educators.
For example, more than 70 universities have built island campuses in Second Life, according to Stuart Sim, CTO and chief architect of Moodlerooms, which builds structures in virtual worlds and offers course management software. Sim said his company is currently developing tools to help universities better manage students and courses delivered in Second Life. That way, universities can have an application to control adding or removing a student avatar to the island campus, he said. The project is dubbed Sloodle.com.
Gerri Sinclair, executive director of the master's degree program for digital media at the Great Northern Way Campus in Vancouver, Canada, said her group is building a Second Life virtual campus alongside its physical one. "Our students are digital natives, and they don't want to be reached in traditional ways. So we're creating a virtual campus as we're building our real campus," Sinclair said.
Jane Kagon, director of UCLA's Extension Department of Entertainment Studies and Performing Arts, also announced during the conference that the university has opened a Second Life island for its digital-film students.
"It's an interesting time" to be part of gaming, noted Chris Melissinos, Sun's chief gaming officer. "There's an opportunity to grab this technology and new modes of communication and use them for a greater purpose."

In that vein, Melissinos discussed Sun's Project Darkstar, which is designed to help developers of online games via server-side technology. With this technology, developers can create multiplayer online games that can be run on any game device, he said. Sun plans to demonstrate the technology at a game conference next month and will offer a free license for it to schools and universities, he said.
Still, there are downsides to mixing virtual worlds and education. For example, Sinclair said that her school held a seminar in Second Life and an avatar entered the room and began shooting at all the other avatars. "We didn't know if we should duck," she said. An administrator in the seminar left the room and figured out how to ban the offender.
Melissinos said Sun is working on open-source client-side software, called Project Wonderland, so developers can build applications on top of its server-side software. That presumably could solve security issues.
"We wouldn't do business in Second Life there because it is insecure. That (security is) necessary for education, too," Melissinos said.
Ultimately, Reed said, he cannot talk about where education is headed without talking about the future of technology because "it's shaping how we reach out to students and team (with) them in every way," he said.

The California State University system, for example, plans to finish in 2008 a new so-called common management system, which will combine financial information, human resources and student services for all 23 campuses on one network. It will let students and faculty access information from any location.
CSU also has systems in place for admission applications, teacher training and college prep tools. Reed said that schools' biggest challenges are in keeping costs down, getting teachers and students linked on the systems, updating outdated technology and keeping the system secure. For example, he said CSU gets as many as 100,000 hits a day from hackers trying to access personal, financial data on students and faculty in its system.
"Many of the challenges we face today," he said, "are similar to ones the rest of the country's universities will face in the next 8 to 10 years."
It would be desirable to hear your opinions under this clause ???
Thanks

Sheriff: 13-year-old OK after bus stop abduction
PARRISH, Florida (CNN) -- A 13-year-old boy who witnesses said was abducted at gunpoint Friday from a school bus stop in Parrish, Florida, is now with deputies, Manatee County Sheriff Charlie Wells said.
Clay Moore was found on a ranch or farm about 20 to 30 miles from the bus stop after he borrowed someone's cell phone to call his mother, the sheriff said.
Clay is doing well and will be reunited with his parents later Friday, he said. Police have no suspect in custody.
Clay has minor scratches, but Wells said he couldn't be sure where those came from.
The suspect -- who police say was described as either Hispanic or a white male "with a dark tan" -- approached the bus stop Friday morning, according to Wells.
Other children at the bus stop told police Clay resisted getting into the suspect's red, early-model, extended-cab pickup truck, Wells said. "Sir, I don't know you," the children recalled Moore telling the man
"There's no doubt about it," Wells said after the Amber Alert was issued. "He was taken against his will. He was taken at gunpoint. He was forced into that vehicle." (Watch Wells explain how Clay was kidnapped )
Police searched rural areas around Parrish, about 25 miles south of Tampa. Even jail personnel were tapped to participate in the search, Wells said.
The suspect is described as 5-feet-6 with a medium build. Witnesses told police he was wearing blue jeans, a blue-and-tan-striped long-sleeve shirt and sunglasses.
Authorities said they don't believe Clay was specifically targeted. He was a target of opportunity, snatched because he was "the one in the street," Wells said.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and FBI are assisting in the investigation.

Yahoo's new version of web mail is, without a doubt, one of the coolest and most fluid Ajax applications we've seen to date. For the average user it offers every major feature that you can find in Outlook or Thunderbird, and it does it with style. But that isn't all, the Yahoo team also took the time to layer the app with embedded tricks, hacks, and shortcuts that makes the whole experience that much sweeter.

With that in mind, here are the top 11 tricks that I use everyday with the new Yahoo Mail Beta:

1. Trick: Instant Address Book Add - Drag a message onto the Contacts link and you'll see the icon change to a plus sign which means you can add that contact to your address book in one easy step.

2. Trick: Navigate your inbox the quick way - Ctrl + Shift + Up Arrow or Down Arrow let you jump to messages in the same folder that have the same subject line. You can hit Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Up Arrow lets you choose another factor to filter on (such as flag) when using Ctrl + Shift to navigate.

3. Easter Egg: When composing a message just hit the Subject: button to cycle through a collection of random (often humorous) subject lines. A lot of real gems in here including:

The brain has been polished professor.
All your platypus are belong to us.
I believe those were mouse droppings.
The twins just turned 2 and 4 this month!
How about never? Is never good for you?
Care for a foam apple?

4. Hack: Organize Your inbox via Message Finder - Now it is as easy as typing in a search, ordering the results by Contact, Location, or Subject, selecting the messages, and dragging them to a new folder. Sounds complicated? It isn't, just do a search and then start dragging and dropping messages.

5. Tip: Select Multiple Messages - Hold shift after selecting a message to select multiple messages. Hold Ctrl to add specific messages to the list. Hit Crtl-A to select all messages in a folder or search results. This is a great way to select everything in your inbox and move it to an archive folder.

6. Tip: Read Messages Now - Go to Options link in the upper right hand corner and then select Mail Options. Find the item labeled mark messages as read and select immediately. This way when you scroll through messages you no longer have to pause one each one to have it marked as read.

7. Tip: Hide/Show Viewing Pane - Just hit the letter V on your keyboard to have more space to organize your folder. Hit V again to reopen the message preview.

8. Tip: Quick Compose - Type the letter N to start a new message or R to reply to a selected message.

9. Trick: Find Text within your message - Hit Crtl + F after selecting a message to find text within a that message. Hitting the enter key lets your scroll through each instance of the word within the message.

10. Trick: Scroll through folder without reading - Holding Crtl lets you scroll through a folder messages using the arrow keys without selecting each individual message.

11. Tip: Send Message Now - By using the Crtl + Enter Key you can send a message you are composing instantly. No more hunting for the send button.

That's it! There are quite a few more shortcuts document in the help section but these are the one's I've found most valuable. Leave a comment and share your Yahoo Mail tips.
